Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce should be ashamed of himself for saying that the National Party is only interested in the jobs of thousands of workers at SPC Ardmona because the Nationals now hold the seat of Murray.
Malcolm Turnbull must say whether he agrees with his Deputy that the only jobs worth protecting are those in seats held by Coalition MPs.
When the Liberals turned their backs on SPC, the Nationals went missing in action. But Mr Joyce now has the gall to tell ABC radio “That’s politics”.
The truth is that the only jobs the Nationals are interested in are their own.
The Abbott and Turnbull governments have done nothing as manufacturing capabilities and jobs leave the country. This is nothing less than economic vandalism.
If the Nationals really represented regional Australia, they would stand up to the Liberals and support firms like SPC that are willing to invest in regional jobs.
